Glorious Glandore
Date of Event : Thu Jan 4, 2018 9:33AM

On Sunday 14th January sees a Grange team in the form of the Aiden Plumridge led Over 50’s return to Glandore Oval for the first time in over twenty years. Once the showcase ground of the ATCA and the home the Edwardstown Cricket Club, many finals were played on this ground as a neutral venue (before the days of home finals) and indeed the home of Grange’s finest hour in A1 when we broke through to claim the first of eight A Grade Premierships (A1) in 1978-79 under the then captaincy of former state player, the late Paul Galloway. This picturesque ground had great facilities in its time and it was always a pleasure to play there where many great victories were claimed by our A and B Grade teams. Unfortunately the once powerful Edwardstown CC fell on hard times in the early 1990’s and disbanded and the Adelaide Cricket Club (SACA ) who had their home ground at Bailey Reserve (SA Rugby Headquarters) across the other side of South Road swooped when the facilities became available and the ground has seemingly been lost to Adelaide Turf forever.
