Spotted at the Glenelg Marina last week downing numerous ales was former D Grade medium pace bowler Tim Hyde-Smith who was in Adelaide on a brief business trip. Still involved in the jeweler trade and introduced to the club in the late 1990’s while living in Adelaide by resident sponsor and life member Graeme Eckert via Andrew Pierson, Tim returned to live in his home city of Auckland where he still resides.
He well remembers the day in 43 degree heat when then D Grade captain Ronnie Rebbeck won the toss at Woodville High School (v Woodville South) and quickly informed his team it was a “good day for bowling”, but with the stumps score being 4 for 335 one wonders whether the skipper made the right decision.
