B Grade Power
Date of Event : Thu Jan 4, 2018 9:29AM

One cannot but be impressed with the performances pre Christmas of our all- conquering B Grade side. After scoring heavily in the first two games of the season but losing both, they have since taken all before them with four great victories to be sitting firmly in the top four but still with a lot of hard work ahead. Two recruits in ageing veterans Jed Abbott and Damien Critchley have added extra depth to the side with both being very useful with bat and ball. Jed was recruited by Rueben Smith (B Grade skipper) from his playing days and friendship at the Payneham CC while Damien comes to us from Strathalbyn after playing many years previously in the Riverland Cricket Association for both Berri and Renmark where his father Steve was a legend as a player, umpire and administrator for nearly fifty years. He was wonderful medium pace and swing bowler in his prime representing Murray Districts with distinction at many country carnivals as well as scoring lots of useful runs for the teams he represented in the lower order. A real ornament of the game in Country Cricket circles in South Australia.
