Great to see young colt and medium pace bowler Callum Swain perform with distinction last round by completing a personal best of 7/68 in the B Grade (v Fulham) in the first innings and 5/22 in the second innings for match figures of 12/90.
Probably being the last picked at the selection table on the Thursday night, he rose to the occasion beautifully when opening bowler Nathaniel Woodward was injured very early in what was a trying day for everyone as the temperature rose to over 40 degrees. Against a serious onslaught from the opposition (Fulham) top order batsmen, Callum stood tall in his hour of need and ripped the heart out of their middle order in a sensational spell of bowling. He is a product from our junior grades for a number of years but has found the step up into senior cricket before last weekend rather challenging from limited opportunities. This is a great lesson in perseverance and shows that hard work in the nets will eventually bring rewards. Well Done Callum, you did yourself proud and you have certainly earned your “spurs” in senior cricket in a big way. !!!!
